NEW Entrepreneurs

If you can Dream it, you can do it in Durham

Durham County is located at the pinnacle of what is now the largest research cluster in the country—Research Triangle Park—that began with one company in 1960 and now includes 250 companies and 50,000 professionals and is growing daily.

What started as a small group of entrepreneurs beginning N.C. Mutual Life Insurance Company in1906 has proliferated into globally-known destination for some of the world’s most innovative companies. The area is home to leading companies like IBM, Cree, and others that continue Durham's history of technology and innovation, as well as the County’s manufacturing legacy.

In 2013, Google recognized Durham as one of the seven key tech hubs in the United States. Shortly thereafter, Google for Entrepreneurs partnered with Durham American Underground to assist new business owners and innovators with tools for growth, best practices, and finding community.

Durham County is rich with multiple startup accelerators like Groundworks Labs, as well as social entrepreneurship resources like SEEDS and Bull City Forward. Not to mention the co-working and office space opportunities for all stages of start-ups and organization growth.
